Well, hello there! Thanks for stopping by! This new website has been a long time coming, with still so much to do. But I’m so glad you’re here.
There are some big changes underway at Allegro Creative. I’m streamlining services, carving out my specialties and saying goodbye to ones I’m not in love with.
When I started this business in 2006, it was a side hustle I hoped to one day grow into a full-blown career. I had just finished grad school while also working a full-time creative gig. All of a sudden, I no longer had to work on my thesis into the wee hours of the morning (then detox my brain with Dr. Mario on our vintage Nintendo) and squeeze a few hours of sleep before I reported to my 8-5. Out of nowhere, I had spare time.
So I started to hustle … hard.
I spent five more years in a J-O-B while building my own business, serving clients on weekends, evenings and into the dead of night (seeing a theme here?). By the time I went full time in 2011, I was doing a little of everything — graphic design, websites, writing, event planning, photography, social media, and even a little video production — nevermind the fact that I couldn’t possibly be an expert at all of those.
You’ve probably heard a jack of all trades is a master of none. I was juggling everything yet felt I had achieved nothing … I felt like a fraud.
(Side note: I love a silly workplace comedy. The Office has replaced Dr. Mario for stress relief.)
After 12 years in business, I’ve learned one huge thing. I think one of my favorite podcasters says it best: “Busy is not a badge of honor.”
I’m narrowing my focus to better serve my clients while also being less busy and more present for our growing family. That means things will likely look a little different around here than what you’re used to. If you’ll hang with me through this transition, there are some really exciting things to come. Stay tuned!
